Greg Smith – BCHT Driver Guide

Accredited London Tour Guide

Born in East London 1970, I enjoyed an active outdoor childhood with family and friends. With O levels in English, Geography and technical communication, I have worked since having a pre-school paper round, and in retail, real estate, and transportation. I am personable, flexible and friendly.

I passed The Knowledge of London in 1998 and the Green Badge tour guide course in 2018. I am a Freeman of the City of London and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers.

I very much enjoy meeting people from around the world, and giving historical tours of classic sites as well as other places of interest in and around London. I am experienced in passenger collection from airports, stations and hotels. I play golf and am a member of a cabbies society called @TLCgolfsociety and in 2016 I was Captain for a year and I raised £7,400 for the WCHCD I also go on the trip as a pro bono driver where we are driver and companions to a family with a sick child.

  • Wanted to show ageing parents the sites of London (they would have great difficulty getting on and off a bus). We were allocated Greg who contacted us to tailor the tour to our preferences. He turned up very promptly, exactly where we had agreed, our tour was absolutely superb – he managed to fit in all the ‘extras’ we had suggested and got us close to sights that we had not anticipated (changing of the Guard was a real bonus). His knowledge was excellent, both historical and anecdotal and he was warm, chatty and very responsive to our questions. He also managed to avoid the worst of London’s traffic so that we maximised the 3 hours we had with him. Thoroughly recommended.

  • We had a black cab tour of London with Greg and I have to highly recommend him and your company for such an informative, interesting and entertaining tour. I am a history buff myself and was so impressed with Greg’s depth of knowledge of London. He is also a very good conversationalist in a man. A few hours with Greg and you will feel like he has been a long time friend.

  • We have been on many private tours throughout Europe, but our tour with Greg Smith was a standout. Greg was personable, knowledgeable, had a keen sense of humor and flexible enough to tailor the tour considering our desire to spend more time walking. He enriched our tour with fascinating stories and covered two thousand years of history with aplomb. When visiting London, do yourself a favour and request a tour from Greg, you won’t be disappointed!

  • Greg was an awesome driver on our personal tour of London. We were able to provide all of the attractions we wished to see, and he had no problem taking us to all. His knowledge of the city and its history were very much appreciated. We would recommend their tour to anyone wishing to see all the beautiful sites London has to offer!

Black Cab Heritage Tours is Good to Go!

At Black Cab Heritage Tours we place the highest priority on the health and welfare of our customers, team and the wider community. This is particularly the case during the current COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.  It may be a little while before our guests arrive from overseas, as the UK Government recently announced the current 14-day quarantine period remains in place for inbound tourists - to be reviewed every 3 weeks.  We have, however, started to offer a limited number of private tour options as of Saturday 4 July, initially to singles, couples and small nuclear family groups - and we continue to accept future reservations.

Our approach is in line with the most recent guidance issued by the UK government, and additional advice from the World Health Organisation. We have also put in new health and safety measures in order to promote social distancing and to limit all non-essential face-to-face contact, which has been recognized by Visit Britain as "Good to Go!"
